Israel has, for quite some time, been one of the world’s most negatively viewed countries, ranking on par with North Korea. And now in 2012 the Zionist nation has dropped even further in the eyes of humankind, according to an annual BBC survey. (more…)

Israel Losing Popularity Contest
Wednesday, May 16th, 2012Israel is Threat to World Peace – But Don’t Dare Say It!
Tuesday, April 10th, 2012“What must be said“, the short poem by Nobel Laureate Guenter Grass, does something few people in the mainstream Western world ever do: speak critically about the State of Israel.
Israel is a “threat to world peace”, writes Grass, whose poem highlights the hypocrisy of the West for condemning Iran’s search for nuclear power while simultaneously allowing Israel to proliferate it’s own nuclear capabilities. (more…)
Beautiful Reddit Charity Frenzy
Monday, December 5th, 2011
It started with a single post to one of the Internet’s potentially life-sucking web-pages, where a member pledged one dollar to Doctors Without Borders for every ‘upvote’ received. The tinderbox-lighting member – Redditor zestyping – also offered an additional ten dollars for every similar donation in a 24-hour period.
The post went viral, others members kept upping the stakes, and if didn’t take long until some pretty audacious wagers were made. When all was said and done, over $150,000 was received by the international humanitarian organization.
This isn’t the first time individuals from the popular forum acted in unison to create something beautiful. In the past, Redditors raised over $600,000 for DonorsChoose.org, exchanged close to $150,000 in Secret Santa gifts, and the free pizza program has never been more popular.
What is happening within the Reddit community is like a microcosm for what new communication tools are doing to our entire world. Community building plus immediacy of information exchange, consensus of opinion combined with instant collaboration and mobilization – these forces, when wielded by tens of millions of people, stand to rock the very foundations of our establishment.
What this means is, thanks in part to a free internet, humankind will continue to build a more just global civilization. The end result of which will be a system that caters more to the vast majority of people instead of just the wealthy elite.
Iceland Recognizes State of Palestine
Wednesday, November 30th, 2011When the global economy crashed in 2008 and their country went Bankrupt, the people of Iceland remained defiant, refusing to pay for the mistakes of a financial monopoly. They boldly rejected the European Union and IMF, with 93% of the population voting against repayment of the debt created by unregulated bankers.
Not content with just sticking it to the banks, Icelanders drafted a whole new constitution, one that would free the country from the exaggerated power of international finance and virtual money.
Now the Icelandic people have once again set the bar for the rest of the world to follow, becoming the first Western European nation to formally recognize the Palestinian State.
The mostly symbolic gesture by Icelandic parliament recognizes Palestine based on the 1967 borders and “urges Israelis and Palestinians to seek a peace agreement on the basis of international law and UN resolutions.”
At a time when nations like Canada are officially turning their backs on the Palestinian people, it’s nice to see we still have members of the international community who support justice and human rights for all and not just those who can afford it.
World Peace Day – September 21
Tuesday, September 21st, 2010September 21 is the International Day of Peace. It is a day for ceasefires all around the world, and has been gaining popularity since its inception 10 years ago.
Peace Day is part of a growing movement that has been gaining momentum all around the world – the peace movement. Over the next few years, the peace movement will parallel the way Organics and Green energy have risen to the mainstream, with more people jumping on the peacewagon everyday =D
Sure, Peaceniks have preached peace for generations now and it never came true. But never before have the tools we have today. The power to connect and organize has never been greater than today. The Internet is bringing our world together like never before.
With our world becoming more self-aware, a simple truth will be made obvious:
The vast majority of humans can live in peace with the vast majority of humans.
When someone recognizes this as true, the idea of world peace is no longer so far fetched. When enough people around the world believe in world peace, we will actually be able to make it happen.
We really are just on the brink of world peace!
