Even though Americans will not be made safer by manufacturing new generations of people to hate them, their government insists upon expanding the militarized drone program. They see it as the future of warfare – it’s faster, cheaper and offers less short-term risks than a boots on the ground war.
The US Defense Department doesn’t care that the program wont make Americans safer, for that’s not actually their objective. Instead, they work to protect their own job security, and the millions employed in their death-dealing business. Stir up the hornets nest, keep poking those bears. Anything to conjure up some fright-inducing yet easily subdued foes to scare up the US population. This way the billions and billions of taxpayer dollars keep rolling in while the war-profiteers can stay fat and happy atop the growing pile of bodies.
The ruling class of America don’t want any wars to stop, and drones offer a new frontier of ongoing bloodshed. Just watch the video above, as protesters expose the suffering inflicted upon fellow humans… the rest of the attendees kept their heads down, in silent shame.
You shouldn’t be able to just kill people with no due process – not on any just and civilized planet. They know it’s wrong, but they do it anyway. That’s why there is so much secrecy surrounding the drone program.
Were too many Americans to find out what their government is doing – engaging in long distance mass murder – the outpourings of dissent might overcome the corrupting influence of an entrenched military industry. Then they will have no choice but to stop cease their crimes against humanity, and peace will gain a stronger foothold over our planet.
While this may be bad for those whose livelihoods depend upon ongoing conflicts, for the rest of us it will be awesome. So let’s keep working to make it happen. Be involved in the movement. Keep spreading awareness about the drone program and give support to others who do the same.
Wars have been on the decline for centuries. A few more years, with enough people involved, war as we know it will be done away with for good.
Bug splat. Have you heard this term before? Bug splat.
It doesn’t have to do with driving on the highway in the summer. Nor does it refer to some quaint touchscreen app, although those involved do use what amounts to a glorified computer game.
People afraid of virtually non-existent threats can breathe a sigh of relief today as the CIA foiled yet another underwear bombing plot. To the astute among us, this will beg the question: did the CIA simply intervene to stop the attack, or did they have a hand in its inception?
This is far from the first time American Intelligence agencies have defeated their own terrorist straw men. In 2010, the FBI masterminded several terrorist attacks which they promptly prevented, claiming victory for the good guys.
Here’s how it plays out: the US plants an operative to convince people he wants to blow up a plane. He then finds someone to build him a bomb, after which he turns it in to US authorities. And voila – the CIA has saved the day once again.
With that, they’ve justified their own existence. As well, the US government solidified the case to continue using illegal drone strikes across foreign lands. Bloated defense budgets and blatant crimes against humanity are sure to be bolstered by this.
So what are they up to, you ask? Why, creating a caste system for airport security! Now CEOs, celebrities, politicians and other mucky-mucks won’t have to settle for simple first class seating. If you’re like me, then you’ve already grown weary from the plethora of 9/11 stories that have surfaced for the 10th anniversary. So I’ll keep this one brief.
Just look at what is happening in New York this weekend – security stops everywhere, fully automatic weapons menacing the street corners, an entire city on edge – it’s a veritable police state. That ain’t freedom, nor is it a state of being worth protecting.
And look at what the American military has been doing in response to the attacks: trillion dollar wars costing millions of lives, campaigns of terror all around the world, and an economy that is threatening to collapse.
All this from a single event, albeit a high profile one. And, apart from some superficial changes, America is no more secure than they were a decade ago.
So what happens the next time a bomb goes off… will American’s withdraw even deeper into their shell, selling off any remaining liberties in a desperate bid for the illusion of more security?
Or will the US population finally learn from their decade long folly see that the most effective way to deal with terrorists is with defiance – simply ignore them as best you can and go on living life to the fullest.
Instead of running for the hills every time some bad guy says boo, we can just accept that getting-exploded-by-some-ideological-douchebag is just one more item in a long list of things that can kill us.
This way, we’ll have more energy to focus towards a broader approach to terrorism, attacking the underlying social issues, like poverty, which foster violent extremism.
We all know that the war machine needs to manufacture their enemies, but this is ridiculous! I mean, come on Defense Industry, at least try to be a little more covert when creating people to fight.
It’s like they’ve been getting away with industrialized murder for so long that they’ve completely lost all respect for the dissenting ability of the American public.
While these tremendous fortunes are gone forever, not all is lost. Like Dr. Ron Paul says, people are waking up to the silliness of America’s bloated military spending and are no longer willing to just blindly accept anything in the name of defense.
It’s only a matter of time until the majority of humans, everywhere on earth, see war for what it is – a giant waste of lives and money just to hurt ourselves. And this is precisely why institutionalized armed conflict will soon go obsolete, paving the path for peace to overtake our planet.
Alongside the troop withdrawal will be a strategic agreement, to be discussed at an upcoming Traditional Grand Assembly, with any tribal elders and political figures willing to play America’s twisted game.
An early draft of the agreement would let the US establish permanent military bases across the country, with the option to set up more military bases whenever it deems necessary. The draft also requires Afghan airspace to be handed over to American forces after the strategic deal comes into effect.
Not much of a deal for the Afghans. But it was never about them, anyway. Al Qaeda and the Taliban are just unfortunate fall-guys in the US’s bid for global supremacy.
Too bad for the US, they’re still fighting a 20th century battle, leaving top spot in the new frontier – cyberspace – up for grabs.
This is where humankind comes in. The new superpower on earth need not be China or some other private entity. The top force to be reckoned with could very well be humankind itself.
While our common humanity can be lost in the fog of war, social media acts like a lifting wind, exposing just how united we really are.
When enough of us see armed conflict for what it really is – that we are only fighting ourselves – we’ll be strong enough to systematically dismantle the institutions responsible for perpetuating wars around the world.
When enough people get the Internet, the whole world could be just one Twitter trend, one Facebook group, one whatever the heck Google+ does, away from world peace.
Picture this: you’re walking home after work, carrying some groceries. The sun is shining. Birds are chirping. A beautiful day.
Other people are enjoying the day, too. Some kids playing. A guy on a bike. There goes a truck with three men in it.
Then, BLAM! Out of nowhere the truck explodes, sending shrapnel everywhere. Smoldering rubble and body parts are all that remains.
The culprit was a soldier fighting an ideological war, signalling the explosion from far away in safety. But it’s not what you think: the soldier wasn’t an extremist by any means.
He was an American, and it wasn’t a car bomb he detonated to snub out the three targets (along with anyone else foolish enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time). It was a rocket-propelled high-powered explosive launched from an unmanned plane circling high above.
Sounds awful, doesn’t it, to think that some foreign nation has given itself the authority to terminate life so suddenly and decisively?
Yet this is exactly what the people of Pakistan have experienced for years, all thanks to the United States of Warmerica attempting to fight terror by being terrorists themselves.
And now Somalia and Yemen get to be victims of this remote controlled murder too. So just how accurate is this “video-game” warfare?
The New America Foundation estimates non-militant deaths at 20 per cent of the total of 2,464 fatalities. Locals estimate toll to be far greater, with one man stating “For every 10 to 15 people killed, maybe they get one militant.”
Even if the lower estimate is more accurate, that still means hundreds of innocent people have been murdered in this futile attempt to somehow bomb ourselves into a more peaceful world. And isn’t just one life far too expensive?
But an even more pressing question is this – if Americans don’t sanction the use of remote drones to eliminate threats on their own soil, what in the hell are they doing unleashing such tactics on someone else?
