Today a great blow was dealt to the establishment, thanks to a strong dose of tech-enable transparency.
As promised, digital activist group Anonymous, with the help of Wikileaks, released over 5 million confidential emails from the intelligence & security company Stratfor. While much of it has yet to be parsed, some amazing tidbits have already surfaced from the handful of emails released:
- Stratfor was contracted by Coca-Cola, Dow Chemical, and Union Carbide to monitor anti-corporate activists, The Yes Men and PETA.
- Stratfor attempted to set up an investment fund with a Goldman Sachs director to trade on the intelligence they collected.
- Stratfor had more than 4,000 emails mentioning WikiLeaks and founder Julian Assange.
Expect much more juicy pieces to emerge over the coming days and weeks. These emails, in the words of Julian Assange, stand to “expose the revolving door that operates in private intelligence companies in the United States.”
Not content to just bask in their own crapulence, today Anonymous called for a people’s uprising in America against the institutions of war and corporatocracy which have usurped the government. Well, unnamed masses, you sure have my vote!
