Bill Clinton Supports Occupy Movement

Sunday, January 8th, 2012

Add one more prominent figure throwing their support behind the Occupy Wall Street movement. This time, it’s former US President Bill Clinton, who offered his praise to the people’s uprising while answering questions at a book signing.

“I think what they’re doing is great,” Clinton said. “Occupy Wall Street has done more in the short time they’ve been out there than I’ve been able to do in more than the last eleven years trying to draw attention to some of the same problems we have to address.”

Yes! Occupy has most definitely changed the discussion. But more than that, the movement represents a huge step in the process by which humankind will reclaim control over the planet. Finally, the people are starting to unite and fight back!

For thousands of years, a small but vocal segment of the population has chimed about the persistent, institutionalized injustices. But now, as these same messages get refined and encapsulated into an easily consumed form ready for the general public, the stage is set for what keeps our global establishment’s elites up at night: the thought that dissenting ideas will go viral.

Yet this is exactly what is already happening. Now, there will be no stopping humankind from tearing down the corrupt house of cards to build up a far more just global civilization.

Cyber-Activists Demonstrate Power of Transparency

Thursday, December 29th, 2011

Sometimes called the “Shadow CIA”, security agency Stratfor is responsible for providing daily intelligence briefings extracted from a global network of informants.

Not long ago, Stratfor’s own security was called into question when Anonymous’ cyber-protesters compromised the security firm, releasing client’s names and credit card details on to the Internet. Another stick in the eye came in the form of $500,000 being donated to a range of charities using the pilfered banking credentials.

Members of the online freedom fighting group claim this private data was so easy to find because Stratfor did not bother encrypting it – an easy-to-avoid blunder which, if true, would be a major embarrassment for any security-related company.

Now, much like a belated X-mas gift, Anonymous is set to share the real gem scored while fiddling about inside Stratfor’s private areas – a cache of 5.5 million sensitive emails sent by confidential sources over the last fifteen years. Analysts predict the treasure trove of leaked data will likely provide a smoking gun for a number of crimes of extraordinary importance.

Who knows… maybe some white collar criminals might even see some repercussions for their unbounded greed. How sweet would that be? If nothing else, this latest round of hacktivism has, once again, struck terror into the hearts of corrupt individuals everywhere.

Institutionalized warfare, a disgustingly skewed distribution of wealth and power, overwhelming corporatist control of government – these monsters can only survive in the dark. Now that we are arming ourselves with ways to shine light upon the secret inner working of the world’s most powerful entities, so many injustices in our world are set to disappear.

Thank you, Anonymous, for helping us create a more just global civilization!

Again, The World Comes Together in Protest

Monday, September 19th, 2011

September 17 marked the beginning of Project Occupy Wall St. – the open-ended mass demonstration taking place on New York’s Wall Street, aimed at raising awareness about the rise of corporatism and the looming threat of totalitarianism.

The populist movement has garnered international attention, evident in the hundreds of pizzas which were purchased for the activists by supporters from all around the world.

These outpourings of earth-encompassing solidarity are not unheard of.

During Egypt’s uprising, the world’s vigilantes helped Egyptians circumvent their Internet blackout.  Later on, Egyptian’s payed it forward, sending pizzas to demonstrators taking part in Wisconsin’s massive pro-union rallies.

Touching, I know. It inspires such hope in humankind. Perhaps the only way to evoke even more optimism is to imagine the future. How will these global acts of unified protest look within a few short years?

No doubt, through mass action on a planetary scale, seemingly impossible feats will become entirely doable. Powerhouses like the IMF, WTO, World Bank, and even the mother of them all – the military industrial complex –  can all be corralled, collared and held accountable to a united human race.

World peace and a more just civilization are in our future, and earth’s freedom fighters, like those in NYC, are helping make it happen.

Vancouver Riots Give Mobs a Bad Name

Thursday, June 16th, 2011

By now you’ve heard about the disgusting display of humanity known as Vancouver’s post-Stanley Cup riots.

While unjustified damage to random property is bad, what’s worse is these drunken hooligans have tarnished the reputation of people amassing in large numbers. Now, whenever massive groups of dissenters congregate in the same area, police and authorities will anticipate violence and preemptively crack down with force.

At least in the Arab World the uprisings are part of a greater struggle for democracy, but the Vancouver riots had no higher purpose. It was just boozed-up buffoonery run amok, and it just made it that much harder to demonstrate against just causes in Vancouver.

Spain’s ‘Lost Generation’ Demonstration

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Spaniards are marching and amassing in central Madrid for the fifth day, protesting budget cuts, bank bailouts and the country’s electoral system.

The root cause for the dissent in Spain – that the rich are getting richer which the poor are left to suffer – parallels the uprisings that have sprung up elsewhere in the world. However, unlike Bahrain, Syria, or Egypt, and fortunately for the Spanish demonstrators, Spain’s police are unlikely to unleash lethal force upon the people.

If you’re wondering why so many earthlings are resorting to mass protests, it is because political systems around the world do not effectively reflect the will of the people. All too often, big money and special interests claim too much influence over politicians and law makers, resulting in a system that works for a minority while ignoring the vast majority.

When voting and elections fail, there’s little recourse outside of non-violent civil disobedience. Only in groups of tens of thousands, or larger, can regular people hope to out-compete the powers that be in the bid to be heard.

For years, power has consistently concentrated into fewer and fewer hands. This has been happening all across the planet, setting in motion a great power struggle between humankind and a handful of humans who seek to rule the world.

So get used to seeing more and more protests around the world, and don’t doubt the indomitable human spirit.

Never before have we regular people had more tools in our arsenal, and we’re gaining new ones all the time. Social media, the internet, twitter… all of these innovations can effectively leverage people power into effective political action, meaning we’ve already begun to create a more just world for humans everywhere.
